1:1 COACHING

What is book coaching?

Book coaching is having personal support while you are in your writing journey. It can be one-on-one or in a group setting. A book coach helps build your skills as a writer, gives you personal feedback on your writing, and guides you through your process.

A book coach is a trained specialist in finding your voice and strengthening your writing skills. Beyond the novel as a product, we are trained in mentoring writers through difficult times and making sure you celebrate your victories.

As an Author Accelerator certified Book Coach in fiction, I have been trained to guide writers from the first pinprick of an idea all the way to pitching to agents and deciding what publishing route is best for you.

1:1 coaching is having your own mentor, teacher, cheerleader and therapist with you during your writing journey.

HOW IT WORKS

As a team, you and I will decide what your specific goals and deadlines are for your individualized package.

Once you have your specific goals, I will create tailor made assignments for you that are due before our next meeting. You will send these to me, I will provide you feedback, and then we will meet to discuss any questions, roadblocks and ideas you might have. We can discuss future steps or dig deeper into the current task, until you are confident and comfortable to continue on your own.

Each 1:1 Coaching Package is created together so that it fits with your schedule and goals.

The typical package begins as a five meeting package, but this can always be altered.

Example Package

Step 1: We meet and set the goal of finalizing your new outline with scenes. You decide your schedule works best with bimonthly due dates and meetings.

Step 2: I will give you an assignment due before our next meeting in two weeks.

Step 3: You turn in your work and I review it and send you feedback before our meeting.

Step 4: We meet again, discuss any questions or roadblocks you have, and I set the next assignment.

Step 5: We continue this for the duration we have set (most commonly a 5 meeting package).

FAQs

Do i have to decide on 1:1 Coaching before a developmental roadmap or a revision roadmap?

Not at all! You can decide to work with me with a coaching package after you receive my feedback. You can ask questions about it or we discuss your next steps during our follow up call.

How often would we meet?

This all depends on your own schedule and the time you have to work on your novel between sessions. You will receive an assignment or goal that will be due before each meeting, so depending on the time you have, you can set this up to be weekly, bimonthly or monthly. The initial package includes five “assignments” and meetings.

WHAT IF I HAVE ADDITIONAL questions?

I’m always here to answer your questions! Feel free to email me at: vdavis@revisionroadmap.com

What do you mean by “assignment”?

Depending on your goals and what stage you are at with your revision, your assignments will be tailor made to help you achieve your goals and get you closer to finishing your draft. It could be an outlining, writing or editing exercise within your draft that you would then receive feedback on. My goal is to get you at a place where you feel confident and clear enough to continue to the end. As a book coach, if you are just needing moral support and someone to keep you on track for writing goals and to brainstorm ideas, I’m here for that too!
